1. Update: I am NOT going to Karate tonight. City buses have been pulled off the roads.

This winter has been so fucked up.

  2. Ugh
Freezing rain and I have to venture forth to Karate class. I could skip it due to the weather, but I have my test on Wednesday and could use some practice/evaluation.
Worst kind of freezing rain too… little tiny ice pellets that hit you like BBs. Joy.

    ↳ F → feminism & representation
"I certainly came up in an era where women were really making strides and making a point to beat down doors and find their place, and crash through the glass ceiling. And a lot of them did that believing that they had to trade on their femininity and that they had to be a man and tap into whatever they believed was a masculine trait to hang in the boys’ room, to get the "keys to the kingdom" as it were. And what’s beautiful about Jessica Pearson is that she is the next level to that when, really, feminism is about being all that you are and not having to trade one thing for another on your way up, or apologize." - Gina Torres (about her character Jessica Pearson, on Suits)

Apparently Judi Dench got bored one day and they created a Les Mis barricade character for her in  May 2004 for just one performance.

Holy shit that must have  been hilarious to see.

    Here’s a picture:

Dame Judi Dench in Les Mis (May 2004)

"As the show started, the announcement was made: ‘At tonight’s performance the role of Javert will be played by Nic Greenshields, the role of Enjolras will be played by Alexis James, and in Act Two in the barricade scene Dame Judi Dench will appear as Madam Lafarge’.

"And, indeed, Dame Judi appeared in a suitably drab costume and mob-cap. She handed some ammunition up the barricade; she helped tie Javert to the chair; she was then hit by a flying bullet and sank dramatically over a table and was then helped offstage by one of the chorus. In total - say just under two minutes onstage!

"Dame Judi is appearing in the theatre next door and apparently has some 45 minutes between scenes. Yesterday she popped next door and said it would be fun if she could walk on at the start of the barricade scene since she had the time available and is a great fan of ‘Les Mis’. They had a quick five minute rehearsal between shows yesterday and tonight - on she went."

in stories featuring aliens, they’re always like “on my planet this never happens!” or “in my culture, this differs from your human culture.” and that’s neat and all because i like worldbuilding and all that jazz but wouldn’t it be fun if they just. couldn’t do that?

i want a story where humans encounter an alien who frustrates them because they don’t know enough to tell them anything concrete

like humans will ask “tell us about politics in your planet!” and the alien’s all “uh… hold on it’s been a while since i took gov. um….”

"what sorts of plants grow on your planet?"

"i dunno i grew up in the suburbs. they’re like… purple? idk what you want me to say"

"tell us about the culture on your planet!"

"do you have any idea how many fucking countries are back home, i don’t even know where to begin"

"your planet is obviously much more scientifically and technologically advanced than ours. is it possible for you to enlighten us on certain matters concerning space travel, or would that be a form of interference you must avoid?"

"naw it’s cool, it’s just that, um, i’m a philosophy major"

Ianto Jones is the best, just the fucking best, okay. Reliable, compassionate, smart as fuck, gorgeous. Makes a mean cup of coffee. Knows everything…no literally…everything. A+ for Ianto Jones, you precious little fucker, I love you.

Reblogging because this is literally the first Ianto love I’ve seen on my dash in MONTHS, and that’s unfuckingacceptable, especially for a group who are so swoony over scifibi.

I’m so happy to see Ianto love, I NEVER see it! ^.^

REALLY? I just finally got around to marathoning Torchwood and…how can Ianto not be getting more love? He is wonderful, from his impeccable manners to his big, sad eyes. Also, can I get a hell yeah for a sympathetic, well-rounded character who is canonically attracted to both men and women and never pigeonholed into a stereotype or only given storylines based around his sexuality?

    Hell Yeah!
